The police are also collaborating with TraumAid to research and mitigate the broader effects of trauma beyond individual symptoms. The wider consequences of trauma include street children, revenge killings, systemic distrust, alcohol and drug abuse, violence and crime.
Currently the police are researching the reasons behind the dramatic increase in the number of street children since the recent war. Gangs of street children are disrupting post-war community rebuilding through their reliance upon drugs, alcohol, crime and incarceration. This research will inform an intervention to address the identified needs of the street children.
