Quilts for the Congo aims to provide every child at Baraka with an individual, hand-made quilt. These quilts have an important function in mitigating children's trauma symptoms: under the quilts the children imagine being literally covered in love and find a refuge of safety from which they can draw strength. Each beautifully hand-sewn quilt offers a reminder to children who have known a cruel and loveless world that they are indeed valuable and worthy of love. Every person who has lovingly sewn together these quilts has provided this gift.
